NFI Certification Renewal By CEUs

Frequently Asked Questions

Every reputable certification program has a strong continuing education program. That is why NFI offers you the chance to renew your certification by continuing your education. To do this, NFI facilitates for you a wide variety of Continuing Education Unit (CEU) courses. Read below for information on how you can renew your NFI Certification by CEUs and grow your skills as a hearth professional in the process.

CEUs, or Continuing Education Units, are units that are earned by attending accredited education courses. Typically, 1 hour of education = 1 CEU.

Getting NFI CEUs
Most CEU-accredited courses are created and offered by industry sponsors such as HPBA affiliates, manufacturers, industry trainers, and other specialty groups. These groups apply to the NFI CEU Committee to get their course accredited for NFI CEUs. Simply attend the accredited course and the sponsor will notify NFI of your attendance. We even keep track of your attendance for you. It’s just that simple!

If you hold 1 Certification:
TECHNICAL - 12 Credits
SAFETY, HEALTH & LIABILITY - 4 Credits
ELECTIVES - 8 Credits
TOTAL - 24 Credits

If you hold 2 OR 3 Certifications:
TECHNICAL - 16 Credits
SAFETY, HEALTH & LIABILITY - 4 Credits
ELECTIVES - 12 Credits
TOTAL - 32 Credits

Certification Renewal Fees
The cost is $119 per NFI Certification to help cover NFI’s administrative costs. Even if you have earned all of your CEUs, you must pay this fee to renew your certification. If you have earned the required number of CEUs, you can do this online by logging in here and following the prompts.

If Your Certification Expires
If you do not renew your NFI certification your name will be removed from the NFI website, and we will inform the appropriate individuals, companies, and/or organizations (i.e. employer, CSIA, HPBA Affiliate) that you are no longer certified.
